"Creekside today is a thriving Institute with 72 members. We meet at the Methodist Church in Station Road, Wootton at 7.15 pm on the second Wednesday of the month. We have an enthusiastic President and Committee who are dedicated to making everyone welcome at all the meetings, activities and events. In the church each month, we hold a business meeting followed by tea/coffee and home made biscuits, which gives us the opportunity to chat informally. There is normally a guest speaker and topics are varied and sometimes unusual.

In between our monthly meetings we have a range of 11 different activities and members are welcome to attend as many or as few as they wish. Also during the year we organise several events and social gatherings, as well as arranging outings to different places of interest both on the Island and the Mainland. Every member receives a monthly newsletter detailing all the forthcoming activities and events. We are involved in the Wootton Village Christmas Nativity event and in July, their "Party in the Park" which is held on the local recreation ground.

We take part in the various County and National Federation Competitions. In 2010 we won the competition for the best Institute Programme on the Island and were then entered into the National competition where we achieved third place (from several thousand entries). In 2011 we took part in the National Tri-Challenge, and in 2012 we entered another National competition called "Big Walk, Little Splash" (celebrating the Olympics.) where every single member took part in some big or small way. Not only did we have to walk and swim the total mileage between LlanfairPG and the Olympic Stadium in London but we also had to produce a journal to go with it, with every member writing a short piece about their walk and providing a photo. At Creekside we managed a total of 611.95 miles. In both cases we won the Island Federation stage but sadly didn’t win Nationally although we did have very favourable comments from the Judges. In June 2013 Creekside W.I. represented the I.O.W. Federation in the National Photographic Competition. Although not winners the photographs were chosen to be displayed at Denman College and were put on the Moodle.

We welcome new members to our friendly and active Institute, and have great fun in all we do. If you are interested in joining please contact us or just come along to one of our meetings held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, commencing 7.15pm in the Methodist Church in Station Road. You will be most welcome."
